蒙特維多 （Montevideo）是烏拉圭的首都，靠著南大西洋，是烏拉圭的主要港口，在經濟、交通、文化等方面也都是整個國家的中心。
這裡的建設很完善，但是卻不感覺繁榮，並沒有城市的喧囂和忙碌，畢竟烏拉圭是個小國家，首都也就只像個一般的小城市。
對遊客來說，蒙特維多好像沒有太多可去的地方。
・舊城區
通常，南美城市的舊城區就是遊客值得一去的地方，不過，蒙特維多的舊城區很讓人困惑，我也不太確定到底算不算是舊城區，因為這裡看起來就和城市中的任何一個地方差不多，只有靠近港口的一小部分比較熱鬧，有兩條整理過的街道，建築比較有特色，是老舊的歐式房子，有一些商店和攤販，還有想吃烤肉必去的市場”Mercado Del Puerto”。

・海邊
蒙特維多雖然靠海，但很可惜的並沒有美麗的沙灘和海景。我沿著海邊走了一段，不僅風景不美，還刮著超級大的風，吹得我的臉都要凍壞了，不過，又濕又冷的強風倒是很像澎湖的冬天，這個感覺好熟悉啊！

・街道市集
蒙特維多什麼沒有，至少還有我最喜歡的市集可以逛。每週固定的日子，在城市中不同的地方有市場，攤販在道路的兩旁，中間留下給人走的通道，賣蔬菜水果的、賣起司的、賣乾貨的、賣日常用品的，這些不是什麼有特色的市集，就是一般當地人會去買東西的地方，很有生活的氣息。

原來烏拉圭人很會踢足球。
和整個南美洲一樣，烏拉圭人也熱愛足球，而且這個小國家的足球隊竟然很厲害，在國際賽事上曾取得很好的成績。蒙特維多也是舉辦第一屆世界盃足球賽的地方，沒想到1930年的烏拉圭就已經發展到可以舉辦大型國際比賽的程度了。
這幾週正巧碰上美洲盃足球賽，比起哥倫比亞那種全民熱血沸騰的情況，烏拉圭人算是很冷靜的，除了聚集在一起看球賽、關鍵時刻大吼大叫之外，他們並沒有太瘋狂的舉動。

所有人都說烏拉圭的烤肉必吃，而且還指定是蒙特維多某個市場裡的烤肉。
雖然烏拉圭的物價很高，但是因著大量的畜牧業，這裡的牛肉非常便宜，甚至比其他國家的價格都低，我真的是為了省錢，只好每餐都大啖牛排。牛肉也是烏拉圭日常料理中最主要的食材，之前寫過智利人吃大塊的烤牛肉，烏拉圭人也同樣喜愛asado烤肉，而且更多樣化，有烤香腸、烤肋排等等，還有從中發展出的特色料理，像是chivito，也就是夾著牛排的漢堡，還有milanesa napolitana，是在一盤薯條山上放牛排和蛋。
到了烏拉圭，必須要去吃一次asado，很多人說最好吃的asado就在靠近港口的市場”Mercado Del Puerto”，那裡面全都是asado小攤，廚師現場烤肉，爐火就在面前，烤架上堆滿的肉實在很誘人。
不過，我倒認為這個市場比較像是給遊客去的，又貴又有情調，事實上，市中心就有很多很棒的asado餐廳，好吃的asado和周邊牛肉料理一定要是當場用木頭燒的火烤出來的，所以，想要吃到美味且道地的烏拉圭菜，找屋頂上有在冒煙的餐廳就對了！

整體來說，蒙特維多真的不怎麼有趣，也沒有什麼特色，如果不是路過，我其實覺得不用特別來這裡玩。不過，我也有在青年旅館遇到已經在蒙特維多待了一個月以上的旅行者，說他們太喜歡這個城市了。這種事就是很主觀，每個人的感覺會差很多。
