我在基多找到了一個 青年旅館打工換宿 的機會，因此待了兩個多禮拜，也小小體驗了生活在基多的感覺。
青年旅館打工換宿
我先前對櫃檯的工作一點概念也沒有，所以從中學習了很多，雖然輕鬆卻也具有挑戰性。
櫃檯的工作最主要是辦入住手續，這裡使用一個看似複雜卻很方便的住房系統，客人和床位的資訊都很清楚，一下就上手了。
另外，還需要處理一些雜七雜八的事，像是回答客人的問題，告訴他們去哪裡玩、去哪裡吃，或是幫他們叫計程車、預定tour，有時候要收送洗的衣服。
我從青年旅館客人轉換到了工作者的角色，看到旅館是怎麼運作的，感覺很有意思。
這些事本身不困難，只是語言對我來說還是個障礙，我很不想遇到那些不會講英文的客人，還有需要和外界聯絡時，打電話和接電話是我最不想面對的事，不過，就是因為被迫講西班牙文，使得我的口說能力進步飛快，這大概是我在這裡打工換宿最大的收穫了吧。

基多的生活
不用工作的時間，我好好的探索了這個城市，讓自己像當地人一樣。
・週末的舊城區
大廣場和旁邊的街道上到處都是街頭藝人，唱歌的、跳舞的、現場作畫的、角色扮演的，什麼都有，還有些賣小吃的攤販，也有個小市集，十分熱鬧，在這裡走走逛逛可以花掉一個上午。
這個小市集像極了特拉維夫每週五早上的藝術市集，小攤販賣的是飾品、雕刻品、皮件等等，都是一些他們親手做的創意作品。
我被一個攤販有趣的擺設吸引了，他在雨傘上鋪了絨布，然後架在地上，掛上一對一對的耳環來展示，那些他自己做的耳環都很符合我的風格。我都忘了這裡是厄瓜多爾，還以為自己在特拉維夫，覺得那些耳環一副至少要賣二十塊美金，當他說出只要三塊美金時，我真的不得不一次買了兩副。

・中央市場
過了舊城區旁的大馬路是基多的中央市場，那裡是當地人的生活中心。和台灣的傳統市場差很多，這裡乾淨整潔，攤販分區清楚，肉類、海鮮、蔬菜、水果、乾貨都有一定的位置，賣的東西也都擺放得十分整齊，讓人感覺很舒服，二樓有一大區賣熟食的小店，是許多當地人吃早餐和午餐的地方，在這裡可以找到最道地的食物。
中央市場和青年旅館離得很近，我經常來，嚐了那些基多必吃的美食，更多的時候是買菜，因為一直在外面吃有點不健康，太多油炸食物了，而青年旅館有個很好的廚房，所以我更喜歡自己煮，在市場採買便宜，又有比較多綠色蔬菜。

・街邊的小吃
青年旅館對面是一間小學，一到中午放學時間附近就會有很多攤販，我趁學生們還沒出來時，跑下樓去看看當地小孩的放學點心都吃些什麼，很多糖果、冰棒、罐裝飲料，也有非甜食，像是薯條、炸雞、烤肉，健康一點的大概就是切好的水果和現打果汁，好像和我小時候吃的東西不太一樣。
路邊一個老奶奶賣的小吃好像很美味，不過當中有像滷豬腳的東西，而我不吃豬肉，所以她給了我淋上醬的玉米和豆子，是一份只有配菜的小吃。

・市中心的大公園
看夠了舊城區，有一天我決定往另一個方向走，去看看基多別的樣貌。沿途經過的都是些辦公大樓、百貨公司，繁忙的城市中有個超大的公園，這裡有一區藝術家聚集的地方，一整排都是賣畫的，也有原住民的手工藝市集，公園中有人在散步，有人聚集在一起跳舞，有人在吃吃喝喝，這大概就是基多人日常的生活吧。

我很喜歡這間青年旅館，也覺得住在基多不錯，天氣涼爽舒適，生活還算便利，而且比哥倫比亞的治安要好些，走在路上還滿有安全感的，但是兩個多星期也差不多夠了。
