拉巴斯 （La Paz）是玻利維亞的首都，也是全世界最高的首都，位在海拔3600公尺。地形和台北有點像，是個座落在盆地中的城市。
巴士要進入拉巴斯前，從山上可以看見整座城市，密密麻麻的房子和四周環繞的山，最高的Illimani山頂上鋪著白雪，離城市好近，看起來好壯觀。
拉巴斯和南美其他城市很像，卻又有點不同。
舊城區裡有雄偉的西班牙殖民建築和街道，雖然這裡是首都，但除了一個大廣場和周圍的幾棟政府建築之外，就沒有其他西班牙人留下來的大型建設了。
離了舊城區，長得就和其他的大城市一樣，複雜且繁忙的道路，商場、大樓林立，竟然還有山城都需要的纜車，全是現代化的建築。

▼ 在任何地方都可以看到龐大的雪山，真是一件讓人很興奮的事。路上，12人座的休旅車是拉巴斯最方便的交通工具，擋風玻璃上寫的是行車路線。

▼ 我在市中心政府機關附近看到了有趣的景象，街道上竟然坐著一整排幫人打字的人，大概是有很多去辦事的人民需要什麼文件就會請他們寫，重點是他們用的是打字機！我以為那是放在博物館裡的東西。
我住的青年旅館這一側的舊城區，是有些西班牙人的痕跡，但樸素很多，都是一般老百姓的房子，石頭鋪的街道比較窄小，而且坡度起伏甚大，主要的遊客區就在這裡，好多旅館、旅行社，紀念品店更是多到不行，白天的時候還挺熱鬧的。

拉巴斯的舊城區是又吃又買的好地方，這裡有南美最便宜的紀念品：衣服、手工製品、金屬飾品、草藥等，還有許多傳統小吃。
有幾條街全是一間接著一間的紀念品店，他們大概是秉持著多即是好的概念，店門口、牆上掛滿了各種商品，小包、大包、圍巾、斗篷等等，都是用玻利維亞傳統的花布製成，色彩豐富，讓人眼花撩亂，而賣金屬飾品的店也不輸人，牆上的耳環、項鍊、墜子比比皆是。
玻利維亞的銀礦非常豐富，所以賣很多銀製品，不過應該只有放在玻璃櫃裡那些高雅的飾品是銀的，其他就是便宜的金屬做的吧。
最特別的是還有不少樂器店，賣吉他、烏克麗麗、charango、排笛、鼓等等，玻利維亞是南美製作樂器的大國，雖然便宜，但品質很好，要不是我在旅行，大概會忍不住買很多。
來到玻利維亞之前，喜歡音樂的朋友向我介紹了charango，那是傳統南美音樂裡很重要的一種樂器，在秘魯、玻利維亞、智利都常常見到，像是有十條弦的小吉他，聲音很嘹亮，聽說就和烏克麗麗一樣容易彈。
於是，決心成為拉丁人的我就真的買了一把charango，練習幾次後，發現最大的問題不是按和弦，而是我對於南美的這種音樂不熟悉，小調配上慢卻有節奏感的節拍，和我習慣的古典音樂或西方流行音樂都差很多，總是彈不出味道來。

不只紀念品店，當地人的市場也很壯觀。
除了買紀念品，我在舊城區旁的住宅區意外發現了當地的市場，滿滿的攤販完全佔據了街道，賣生活用品的、賣衣服飾品的、賣零食小吃的、賣蔬果雜糧的，什麼都有，什麼都不奇怪，把所有攤販看完要花不少時間，我很喜歡逛本地人的市場，這樣才有體驗他們生活的感覺嘛！

來到拉巴斯第二天一早，我出門在舊城區裡逛逛，騎樓下的小吃店和街上的小攤販都很吸引我，加上前一天沒吃什麼東西，走了一圈，也亂吃了一堆食物。
吃了玻利維亞有名的tucumana，中文應該可以說是餡餅，雞肉或牛肉餡料用沒有發過的面皮包著油炸，是當地人最平常的早餐，還有一種外面沾了香料的飯糰，配著醬料吃，也有我喜歡的Api：紫色的玉米汁配餅，然後還在路邊攤買了很多零食、果汁、麵包，總之是吃得很飽。

開心不過一天，我就生病了。
結果，晚上就拉肚子了，隔天還開始嘔吐，雖然不算很嚴重，但仍舊不太舒服，大概真的是一下子在街上吃得太隨性了。
除了上吐下瀉外，我也開始發燒，屋漏偏逢連夜雨，我病懨懨的躺在床上看電影，一坐起身，竟然就往筆電上吐，還好吐出來的只是剛才喝的水，雖然我迅速地用紙擦乾了表面，但是沒過多久，電腦就死了，再也無法開機。
不舒服竟然持續了三、四天，我幾乎沒有進食，也沒有體力精神，大部分的時間都留在房間休息，還只能用小小的手機看影片，真是很想哭。
一直是鐵胃的我，在每個地方都是這樣亂吃、什麼都吃，這還是第一次有問題，我不認為是玻利維亞或是路邊攤的錯，只是剛好而已，總之，等我痊癒後，為了品嚐最道地的食物，我還是會吃街上小攤的。
在巴拉斯的一個星期中，除了生病待在青年旅館的時間之外，我其實也只有在附近走走而已，大概也因為天氣寒冷，只想懶懶地躲在被窩裡，這裡的平均溫度只有攝氏8度，但房子裡都沒有暖氣，我每天就靠著在庫斯科買的羊駝毛衣和毛帽，其實冷一冷也習慣了啦。
拉巴斯真的沒有給我好印象，人民不太友善，我自己生病了，連電腦也壞了。直至此刻，我對玻利維亞的感覺不能再更糟了，好想快點離開…
