巴西是全球日本移民最多的國家，大約有200萬 日裔 在這裡生活，其中聖保羅是日裔人口最集中的地方。
和我非常好的巴西朋友Juliana就是日裔第三代，她是土生土長的聖保羅人。透過她，我深入了解了巴西的日裔族群，也觀察到很多有趣的文化現象。

歷史背景：日本人移民到巴西
20世紀初，許多日本人因經濟因素遠渡重洋來到巴西，在咖啡農場當勞工。他們與當地人通婚，並定居下來。
二戰之後，又有一波新的移民潮。許多日本難民移居到巴西，逐漸形成了大型的日裔社群。
直到今日，這些日本移民的後代已經是第三、四代了，他們仍在巴西生活。有少數人選擇回流日本工作，但大部分人依然把巴西當成唯一的家。
現在的 日裔 巴西人：超融入當地文化
讓我比較驚訝的是，即使聖保羅的日裔族群這麼龐大，但除了飲食之外，他們並沒有保存什麼日本文化，幾乎是完全融入當地了，穿著、個性、生活習慣都和一般巴西人沒差別。
－ 身份認同
這些日裔巴西人認同的身份是100％的巴西人，他們不覺得自己是移民，沒有生活在異國他鄉的感覺，更不會有「日本是祖國」的觀念。
他們和日本的情感連結，最多就是「我有親戚住在日本，但從沒見過」或著「我爺爺是從日本來的」。很多人一輩子沒去過日本，也沒有要去的打算。
很多台灣人對日本的情懷與迷戀，根本遠遠超過這些日裔巴西人了。
－ 語言
葡萄牙語是日裔巴西人的母語，會講的第二種語言通常是西班牙文或英文，就和其他巴西人一樣，是在學校學的。
他們大多數完全不會日文，即便像我朋友一樣小時候上過日本學校的，也只是學了皮毛，大概可以認得五到十個字吧。畢竟沒有日語環境，在家中也不講，要能維持日文能力真的不容易。
－ 生活
雖然聖保羅有一個日本城，但日裔並非只在這個區域活動。
他們和其他巴西人一起上學，爭取一樣的工作機會，在一樣的市場買菜，住同一棟公寓、同一個社區，生活中的一切都和一般巴西人沒兩樣。
－ 通婚
日裔和其他族群通婚非常普遍，他們並不特別傾向和同為日裔的人結婚，畢竟除了長相，他們的文化和觀念與其他巴西人並無差異。
因此，不少巴西人是帶有日本血統的。在聖保羅街頭，常常能看到擁有東亞外貌特徵的人，或是遇到有日本姓氏的人。
其實，巴西本來就是個族群多元的國家，白人、黑人、原住民，加上近一百多年來的亞洲移民，什麼樣的膚色和混血組合都是很常見的。
－ 唯一保留的文化：飲食
唯一能明顯感受到日本文化的地方，就只有在「吃」這件事上了。
聖保羅有很多日式餐廳和居酒屋，口味普遍還算道地。雖然不會天天吃，但大部分日裔巴西人是喜歡日式料理的，這大概是他們生活中保留最多日本味的部分了。
不過話說回來，日式料理在聖保羅已經是主流美食之一了，很多非日裔的巴西人平常也愛吃壽司、拉麵，所以，也不能說這是「日裔專屬」的文化啦！

總之，如果在巴西，尤其在聖保羅，遇到長得像日本人的人，不要以為他會講日文，不用期待他了解日本文化或對日本有什麼感情，他就是個地地道道的巴西人！
超多 日裔 的聖保羅
巴西聖保羅約有160萬的日裔，佔了人口的7.1%。
我打工換宿的青年旅館吧台，本地員工有八個人，其中就有三個人是日裔的後代，是不是多得很誇張？
對我來說最有趣的事，莫過於常被誤認為巴西人。看到我的外表，大家理所當然以為我是日裔，還對於我不會講葡萄牙語感到奇怪，也是害得我有點尷尬。
聖保羅的日本城 Liberdade
Liberdade（自由區）是聖保羅的日本城，也被稱為東方街。
早年聚集了大量日本移民，開了許多日式餐廳、超市和商店 。近年來，隨著中國和韓國移民的加入，這裡變得更像是一個綜合的亞洲城了。
－ 美食
很多人來是為了吃日式料理，其實，除了各式的日式餐廳之外，這裡還有不少中餐廳和一些韓式、越式、泰式料理。另外，也能找到有名的手搖飲連鎖店，和很具東亞風格的咖啡店。
我的日裔巴西朋友Juliana帶我去過一家很不錯的居酒屋，菜色和口味都很不錯。但我也曾被另一個朋友（玻利維亞人）帶去過一家中餐館，完全就是適合外國人口味的中式食物，對我來說真的不好吃。
如果想吃道地的東亞料理，還是得慎選，不是每一家餐廳都值得期待。

－ 商店
這裡的亞洲超市很齊全，中國、韓國、日本的商品幾乎都找得到，價錢也算合理。
最吸引遊客的，大概是那些賣各種有趣小物的商店，裡面都是文創商品、動漫周邊、無用的小物這類東西。
我的朋友們在日本城逛得超開心的，但對我來說一點都不新奇，這裡根本就和走在上海或台北街頭一樣嘛！

我覺得，唯一算得上特別的，大概是街道上的紅色路燈，超級刻板印象的東亞設計，在亞洲反而很少見。還有，行人的紅綠燈標誌竟然是神社圖案，也滿有趣的。

雖然，自由區日本城是我們在青年旅館必推薦給旅客的聖保羅景點，但說真心話，除非是特別想吃某間餐廳，或是想在亞洲超市買什麼，不然日本城真的沒什麼好去的，還是把時間留給真正有巴西特色的地方吧！
