來到南美旅行，我一直都有去亞馬遜雨林的打算。亞馬遜雨林大部分在巴西，其他周邊的國家也都有一小部分。
我在基多的青年旅館認識了一個旅行者，他跟我分享了去厄瓜多爾亞馬遜區的故事，不像在哥倫比亞需要搭小飛機，從基多坐巴士就可以到亞馬遜區，十分容易，再來，我提到黃熱病疫苗的問題，他告訴我在基多的市立醫院就可以免費接種黃熱病的疫苗了，方便又不用花錢，一下子，我去亞馬遜雨林的困難都解決了。
前往亞馬遜雨林
我一直都很想去 農場打工換宿 ，這次，剛好找到了一個在亞馬遜區的農場。
不像青年旅館都在市中心裡，去到這個農場的交通有點複雜。我從Latacunga搭巴士到了亞馬遜區的主要城市——普約（Puyo）之後，還要從巴士站坐計程車去另一個地方搭公車，這是唯一會經過農場的公車，一天只有兩班。
我成功地搭上了這班公車，不過，很糟糕的是，我其實不確定自己要在哪裡下車。雖然有事先看過地圖，但是我沒有農場的地址，甚至連農場的名字叫什麼也不知道。好在厄瓜多爾人很好心，經過車長和其他乘客的一番討論後，公車準確地在我要去的農場的入口停了下來。
經過這次公車乘客的幫助，和上次搭便車的經驗，我又更喜歡厄瓜多爾了，而且也能更放心地在這裡旅行了。
入口什麼也沒有，只立了一個寫著農場名字的木頭牌子，我順著旁邊的石子路往下走，兩旁綠色植物叢生，我馬上就感受到了雨林氣候的潮濕和悶熱，最後，映入眼簾的是一棟三層樓的斜頂大木屋。農場主人出來迎接我，並帶我到一間小木屋，在那裡還有其他幾個打工換宿的人。
－ 打工換宿的農場
農場主人Ferhat是個土耳其人，由於愛好菌類研究，也喜歡南美洲，所以決定住在厄瓜多爾的亞馬遜區。他在這裡買了一大塊地，可以自己種一些植物，也可以去叢林裡找要研究的東西，順便經營旅館來賺錢。
農場很大，除了幾個建築物之外，其他地方幾乎都是雜生的植物。大木屋是一間間的客房，要給旅館客人住的，一邊是開放式的餐廳和廚房，另一邊則是一棟一層樓的小木屋，當做接待中心（reception）。與大木屋離得比較遠的，還有兩棟小木屋，分別是Ferhat自己的屋子和專門給打工換宿者住的地方。
我抵達時，農場並沒有在營業，因為建造都還在進行中。只有大木屋和餐廳、廚房算是完成，其他都只有基本構造而已。我和幾個打工換宿者睡在小木屋唯一完工的房間裡，另一個房間與衛浴、廚房、客廳都還在施工中。

這裡所有的工程都由一位工頭帶著八個年輕的工人來做，沒有誇張，大至牆壁、窗戶、地板、樓梯，小至房間裡的床、置物櫃，甚至廁所裡的衛生紙架，全部都是由工人們親手製造出來的。組裝IKEA的家具根本就只是一塊蛋糕，這裡的人是在DIY一整棟房子啊！還不只一棟，是好幾棟！
而我們打工換宿者的工作就是幫他們一起把房子蓋完，當然，我們並沒有這方面的技術，所以都是做一些簡單、零碎的小事。
－ 我的工作 與 Diego
我第一天被分配去做木工，要把幾塊已經切好的超大木頭刨光，和其中一個工人Diego一起。Diego的年紀和我差不多，他是個很活潑、有趣的人，我們很快就成了朋友，他教我西班牙文，我教他英文，一邊工作一邊聊天。
大概因為我和Diego一起工作得很順利，之後，工頭乾脆讓我當Diego的跟班，他做什麼，我就跟著去。接著幾天，我們做了不少小東西，把大木屋最後的一些細節完成了。
・ 置物架、衛生紙架
我們先是把一堆木板用噴槍上了亮光漆，原本看不出來是要做什麼的，直到我們把材料一點一點組裝起來，好像變魔術一樣，突然間，它們都變成了有意義的東西，過程挺有趣的。
我們把一片片長方形的木板又豎又橫的釘在一起，就成了三層的置物架，雖然簡單卻有點設計感。圓形的木板中間挖洞，然後插進一根細小的竹子，就成了廁所用來放衛生紙的架子。

・ 鏡子
最特別的是那些大竹子，每根竹子都已經被切了一條細縫。我們把長短對好，中間卡進一面鏡子，再用長螺牙和螺帽固定，就成了粗獷、鄉野風的鏡子，很有創意。

・ 壁掛桌
我們在小木屋的廚房做了一個壁掛桌，將來要放爐子用的。這次，從測量到裁切木頭都要自己來，然後還要用機器磨光，量好支撐腳的角度，最後才打進牆壁裡。

・ 洗手台
我第一天刨光的超大木頭塊原來是要用來當洗手台的，上了漆之後，終於要裝上牆了。Diego的技術和經驗大概不是很足夠，裝洗手台時，他很快就放棄了，直接交給小工頭Ameli。
Ameli先把木頭檯子釘上牆壁，然後量位置、打洞，裝上水龍頭和洗手盆，最後接水管。我在旁邊幫他，第一次親眼看整個過程，太有趣了！而且Ameli超厲害，動作迅速又準確。

多虧了Diego，我學習到很多新技能。
Diego大可以只把我當成一個助手對待，叫我去拿釘子、叫我去接插座，但是他沒有，Diego每次都給我嘗試的機會，讓我也動手做。雖然我對大部分的工具和機器都不熟悉，但是Diego很耐心的教我，後來，不管是萬能的電鑽、磨光的機器、上漆的噴槍等工具，我都能操作自如。
除了做這些小東西之外，我們也和其他工人一起蓋另一棟小木屋，當然，碰到這種比較困難的工作，我就只能在旁邊當助手，不過，有太多新鮮的事了，他們在牆壁裡填泡沫、把門組合起來安到牆上、釘窗框⋯⋯這些都是我第一次見，光是站在一邊看其他人工作，我就沒時間管Diego需要什麼了。
不僅如此，我也學到很多細節，像是很基本的，釘子要用多長才會堅固，考慮到不同材質、不同重量；壁掛桌下面的三角支架角度要多大，才能穩固。其實這些在高中物理早就學過了，題目我知道怎麼解、怎麼算，但實作倒是第一次，感覺真的和坐在教室裡學理論差很多。

－ 愜意的生活
每天吃過午飯後，我們就沒事了。
有體力又有興致時，我會和其他打工換宿的人一起去玩。走進農場下面的叢林裡，感受一下雨林的奇妙，或著，我們會去附近的瀑布，在冰冷的水裡游泳。想當懶豬的時候就待在農場裡，陽台上有吊床和沙發，每到下雨的時候就會特別的涼快，非常舒服。
很巧的，幾個打工換宿的人中，除了我之外，德國女生也彈烏克麗麗，阿根廷男生則是彈吉他。晚上的時間，也沒什麼事做，我們就會一起玩玩音樂、唱唱歌，偶爾還會生個營火，喝點啤酒，生活很愜意。

每天都會出現的彩虹
住了兩個星期，我想，我還是不太喜歡熱帶雨林的氣候，因為太潮濕了很不舒服，幾乎每天下午都會下雨，不過一陣傾盆大雨過後，氣溫倒是下降了不少，涼快很多。
有趣的是，我不喜歡熱帶雨林氣候的原因卻是造成我喜歡熱帶雨林氣候的原因，這裡的天空中常常出現彩虹，就是因為空氣潮濕，動不動就下雨，就算沒下雨，空中的水氣也很多，太陽一照，彩虹就出來了。

在這個亞馬遜區裡的 農場打工換宿 了兩個星期，感受了雨林的氣候、體驗了叢林的生活、學習了木工的技術、交到了有趣的朋友，收穫非常多，雖然沒有好到想繼續留下來，但是已經心滿意足。
